Quality of the wicket

I think everyone who played at home over the weekend came away thinking the wicket was pretty crap.

It may be the start of the season, but having been so dry, it seems pretty unacceptable for the pitch to be in that state. I thought it was pretty embarassing, made batting, bowling, and keeping somewhat of a lottery with the rediculous variation in bounce.

It almost makes me look forward to playing on Bridgwater's 2nd pitch at the weekend....

Quality of the Welly wicket...

Well...i feel i can make a good and honest comment about the Welly wicket. Against Street 2nds i personally felt safe and secure whilst batting. It maybe a little two paced and a bit up and down at times, but i think the square is playing fine. The Street batsmen on the day also enjoyed themselves picking off our seamers at will. So have no fear, get padded up and fill ya boots!!! Oh yeah...and its great to back home where i belong...thanx for making me feel welcome fellas.

You would say that!

Well you would say that Lux, as you were the only one to get any runs! As for our bowling, thank god we've got a world class spinner in the team who will take wickets on any wicket, regardless of the condition.

World Class Spinners

World Class spinners?? Now there's a debate! Well...who is the Worlds best spinner?? Could it be Monty? Well he's rated 12th now...Lets have some views fellas....and here's a question...why have our seamers been bowling 'a la carte' for so long? Is it down to Shine? Why has Stuart Broad loss pace and direction? I remember last year in 20/20 final, a certain Mr Irani quoting Broad as the next BIG thing since the arrival of KP....Yet England still keeps winning! OK i admit the Windies are a bit 3rd class at present! So i think it's India looming next for us...so i ask my fellow selectors...wot do we do? Is it time to bring back Tres for Strauss? Has poor Liam played his last game? Will Harmy finally work out how to use the Sat Nav? Does Caddy fancy a comeback? And finally...James Hildrith? Is he all that? Or is he Charles Colvile's lovechild?

It must've gotten a fair bit

It must've gotten a fair bit better then.
That first weekend was particularly bad, and though there's not been so many popping since, a lot have kept low.

I think the wicket was true

I think the wicket was true and fair. Typical of an old style Welly wicket...good to bat on before tea...but even better afterwards. The problem we had on Saturday, was availability. The Skipper had very few options in the field due to either age, or lack of skills. Everyone gave the Skipper 100%, but when you play a side like Street with the limited players available at his disposal, i'm afraid you will always get found out. In the last four games i have played for the mighty 'TWOS' the spirit and commitment shown by the players has been a credit to the club. JD has impressed me with his leadership...and yes i think we are good enough to stay in this division.
