Does Wellington CC need a coach?

OK lets get straight to the point here. You all know who i am! A senior member of the club asked me a few questions before Christmas about coaching. Well here is the answer. I would love to remain at Welly even though the boots have been hung up for good! Everyone knows i talk a good game, i'm always trying to help, pass on advice and tips etc. Would the Club want me on board to help out in a coaching role? Well...if you guys want me to do it, i'm more than happy to help. But, i will set out rules, and i would want to take this seriously. Starting with the indoor nets. The nets are fine, but these do not help fitness. A more agile player makes a far better cricketer. If the league teams want to win games, just a 10% fitness gain can win you two or three extra games. We are amateur not professional but if you players want to make 2008 the best year ever, you all need to improve your fitness. Look at Chris Rudd, i saw him out pounding the relief road, looking trim and keen...the club needs more like Chris. So boys, if you want it...lets start now...get some jogging in...get the excercises going. At nets, i wouldn't want to see anyone in there who hasn't tried to get fit. OK...tough enough? You aint seen nothing yet!! When the outdoor nets start, if you want it...i will bring a fitness guru in. He will help the bowlers with leg conditioning. So...its fitness all the way...no beer fellas 24 hours before a game, but as much as you like after...detection will be punishable! So thats the rules of the game. As for the coaching, well certain players around my age dont need coaching, Moyse,Speed Donk etc. but if you want to learn new tricks, be aware on the pitch, anything really, then thats when i try and work my magic...guys it really is up to you...i will do my best, but you must help me as well and give it a go...if it works? Great...if it doesn't, well at least i tried for you...Fellas...the decision is all yours...happy new year all...Lux.
