Wellington 2nds and Wellington 3rds both win.

Wellington 2nd team took on Huish Episcopi 2nd team on Monday night and just managed a close win.
Wellington 2nd team without two regulars Brian Davenport and James Luard brought in two of the clubs teenagers as replacements, Andrew Ford and Jamie Strawford.
Andy Ford was on first against Marl De Sylva. Andy took the first game 9-5, but Marl came back to win the next two 9-5,9-2. In a tense fourth game Marl edged out Andy 10-8 to win 3-1. Jamie Strawford was next on against lady player Kim De Sylva. Having to play a lady clearly troubled Jamie as he lost the first two games 6-9, 3-9. However, he picked up the pace and won the next three games 9-2,9-5,9-0 for a 3-2 win.
Phil Griffith took on his usual opponent Gary Pattemore and soon took control winning the first two games 9-5,9-1. Gary got his game together in the third and won it 10-8. However Phil was not troubled by that and won the fourth 9-3.
Phil Hobbs took on Bill Parker and quickly got into his stride winning the first game 9-0. Bill bounced back as Phil started to struggle with his game and took it 9-5. Phil regained the upper hand taking the third 9-2. Bill was not out of it and won the fourth 9-6. The fifth and final game was a nail biter with Bill going 8-5 up. But, somehow Phil managed to claw his way back and take the last game 10-8 for a 3-2 win. Finally at about 10.30pm Mike Broom took on Mike Crumb. This turned out to be a non contest as the young Mike Crumb played some excellent squash to win 9-4,9-4,9-4.
The final match result was Wellington 13 Huish 11.

Wellington 3rd team were also playing at home against Wyvern 2nd team.
Chris Short played first and in a see-saw match just lost out 6-9,9-6,3-9,9-6,6-9. next on was Greg Harrison taking on another lady player. Greg was not troubled too much and came through 9-6, 10-8, 9-3. Gary James was back in the team playing at no.1 and showed he is still a force to be reckoned with. He had a long five game match but eventually lost it 3-2 with game scores being 5-9, 9-7, 9-6, 4-9, 6-9. Mike Kavanagh took on a late stand in Steve Wright who has actually just joined Wellington squash club. On this occasion Mike Kavanagh’s unorthodox play took the honours with a 9-6, 9-7, 8-10, 9-6 win. Last on was Tom MaClure who after a tight first game came through to win comfortably, 10-9, 9-4,9-5. The final result was Wellington 16 Wyvern 7. A good result on the night.
